One of the rarest Zondas has suffered an unfortunate accident, and this one carried particularly personal significance. The supercar belongs to Horacio Pagani himself and was involved in a crash during the brand’s annual ‘Raduno’ road trip across Italy, although it remains unclear who was behind the wheel at the time.

Unlike many examples that have been recommissioned and upgraded into 760-series models, this Zonda remains in its original form, which makes it one of the most valuable of the breed.

The car is number four of the 25 Zonda F Roadsters ever produced by the Italian marque, with an ownership history as storied as the car itself. Originally bought by Benny Caiola, Pagani’s very first customer and the namesake behind the Huayra BC, the car became part of Horacio’s personal collection after Caiola’s passing in 2010.
A Collision On Narrow Roads
Limited details are available about the crash, and only a few images of the aftermath have surfaced on social media. The white roadster appears to have struck a rock wall on a narrow country lane, its rear end bearing the brunt of the impact. In one shot, a blue van with a damaged front end sits nearby, suggesting the possibility of contact between the two vehicles before the Pagani hit the wall.
Witnesses say staff acted quickly to conceal the wreck under a black cover, yet not before photos revealed one of the rear wheels knocked out of alignment. Such damage points to serious suspension issues lurking beneath the car’s carbon bodywork.

Additionally, the engine cover has been lifted up and damaged, and it’s inevitable that the carbon fiber bumper and diffuser have also been smashed and will need to be repaired. Curiously, the front clamshell is also shown resting in a peculiar position after the impact, perhaps suggesting that it too was hit and damaged.

Had this Zonda been owned by anyone other than Horacio, it’s likely the owner would have had it sent back to Pagani, repaired, and then upgraded into a 760 model. However, given that Horacio owns it, we suspect he’ll simply have it repaired back to its former self.
