Vocalist Lukas Magyar has stepped down from progressive metalcore outfit Veil Of Maya. Veil Of Maya went on hiatus last fall as guitarist Marc Okubo took on a touring role with multi-platinum alternative metal band Falling In Reverse. Since then, activity around the band has been minimal, with fans left wondering about its long-term future.
Magyar has clearly shifted his full creative focus to a new band called SIFYN, recently removing any reference to Veil Of Maya from his Instagram bio. He further confirmed his exit directly in the comments section of his social media.
The PRP noted that Magyar responded to a fan who asked “Does this mean we likely won’t be seeing VOM again?” saying: “If you do, it won’t be with me. I decided to part ways and focus on SIFYN.” Magyar later noted that he “had to step away and focus on other things” in response to another fan.
At this time, there has been no official announcement regarding Veil Of Maya‘s future lineup or whether the band will continue without Magyar. The only indication of possible activity came from Okubo in January 2025, when he posted: “When Veil comes back it will be the heavy version.”
At the time of their hiatus in September 2024, Veil Of Maya stated: “We have made the difficult decision to have Veil Of Maya go on hiatus and we will not be playing any of the upcoming festivals or tours. We apologize to our fans and appreciate everyone’s support over the years. This break is necessary for us to reassess our future, and we hope you understand. When the time feels right, we’ll update you on what’s next for Veil Of Maya we will be back. Thank you again.”
Veil Of Maya released their first new record in five years Mother in 2023.
