Watch GOJIRA Get Played On Stage To METALLICA’s “Enter Sandman” At The GRAMMYs & Their Acceptance Speech

Gojira won their first-ever GRAMMY last night in the Best Metal Performance category for their Olympic song “Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça ira!)” performed alongside vocalist Marina Viotti and composed by Victor Le Masne. The Recording Academy is now streaming Gojira‘s acceptance speech given by frontman Joe Duplantier, where he encourages metal artists to keep pushing the bounds. It’s a very cool moment, and it’s always nice to see a great band recognized for their work!

“Thank you very much. It took us a long time [to walk up to the stage], we were sitting back there. We’re extremely excited to receive this award. We had the privilege to perform at the Olympic ceremony with Marina and Victor, so this is a great day for us, obviously,” said Duplantier in the above video.

“We want to dedicate this award to all the bands that are pushing the boundaries. Support your local artists, support your local bands because that’s where it’s at. They’re inspiring us to continue. So thank you very much for this.”

Gojira beat out Judas Priest, Knocked Loose, Metallica, and Spiritbox in the category (all of whom also deserved it, frankly). This year’s nominations for the Best Metal Performance category at the 2025 Grammy Awards were:

  • “Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça ira!)” – Gojira, Marina Viotti & Victor Le Masne
  • “Crown of Horns” – Judas Priest
  • “Suffocate” – Knocked Loose feat. Poppy
  • “Screaming Suicide” – Metallica
  • “Cellar Door” – Spiritbox

Oh, and if you need a good laugh, skip to 2:55:50 in the below video. It got cut in the above video, but you can see Gojira get played onto the stage to Metallica‘s “Enter Sandman” by the house band.
